Your Pre-Packing, Packing, and Unpacking Supply Checklist

SelectStorage December 14, 2015 Comments Off on Your Pre-Packing, Packing, and Unpacking Supply Checklist 279

When you are getting ready to move, you need to be thoroughly prepared because if you are not, you will find that you have more of a mess on your hands. Below, we will go over some of the supplies that you need when you are getting ready to pack, when you start to pack, and as you unpack.

Pre-Packing Supply Checklist

When it comes time to pre-pack, you want to make sure that you are prepared. You should gather some supplies such as foam, tape, bubble wrap, and boxes. You should start to label the boxes accordingly at this point as well. That way, you know where you will be packing your items.

In addition, you should start getting rid of items that you no longer want or need. You can toss them out or donate them if they are in good condition.

Packing Supply Checklist

When it comes time to pack, you want to make sure you have your boxes and other supplies above readily available. You also want to grab some tools such as a screwdriver to remove legs from your furniture, etc.

In addition, make sure that you are laying down sheets or rugs to move your furniture, otherwise, you may scratch your floors or furniture.

Unpacking Checklist

When you are ready to start unpacking your belongings, place the boxes in the rooms they belong in. If you labeled all of the boxes before you started packing, this will be easy for you to do.

You want to make sure you keep the sheets and rugs with you so that you can move the furniture into your new home without scratching the floors and door jams.

In addition, you should have scissors and tools on hand to open items and put the legs back on your furniture.

Moving day is fun and exciting, but it is important that you make sure you are preparing beforehand, during, and after. The tips above will help you plan accordingly so that you minimize the amount of stress you experience throughout moving day.

One last thing to consider is that if you need additional space to store some of your items, visit some of your local self-storage facilities. You will find that having a storage unit on hand will allow you to free up space in your home while keeping the items you want.
