How to Choose the Right Dolly for Your Move

SelectStorage January 12, 2016 Comments Off on How to Choose the Right Dolly for Your Move 272

If you are planning to move soon, you want to make sure that you are prepared and not rushed. One mistake that many people make is they want to hurry up and get the move done, so they never think about the injuries they may receive from lifting furniture that is too big or heavy. Below, we will go over some tips to help you choose the right dolly for your move.

  1. Appliance Dolly

An appliance dolly is one that is used specifically to move your appliances for you. This type of dolly is ideal as it can hold the weight of the appliances you need to move including your washer, dryer, refrigerator, and oven. Utilizing an appliance dolly will minimize your risk of injury and prevent dropping of the item.

  1. Utility Dolly

A utility dolly is on that is used for a multitude of purposes. This dolly is easy to use and one that you are probably used to seeing. It sits tall and has a large handle on it, which allows you to direct the dolly any way you need it to go.

These dollies hold up to 600 pounds and can move everything in your home, but make sure you do not overload them with large appliances or heavy items such as a safe, as the dolly itself may not hold up well.

  1. Furniture Dolly

The last type of dolly that you can choose for your move is a furniture dolly. This type of dolly sits low to the ground and is on caster wheels. You can easily place your furniture on top of the dolly and simply wheel the furniture around where you need it to go.

For larger pieces of furniture, you can use two furniture dollies, one placed at each end, to help make the moving process easier.

The three types of dollies above can provide you with the help you need when it comes to your future move. You will find that using a dolly makes the move easier and you are not placing as much stress on your body to lift and maneuver the heavy objects.

When you get ready to choose a dolly for your needs, think about the type of items you will be moving as one dolly may be better for you than the next.
