Your Guide to Selling Your Home Quickly

SelectStorage November 25, 2016 Comments Off on Your Guide to Selling Your Home Quickly 470

If you are planning on moving, you may be tied to the current city you live in because you still have a home in your name that you need to sell. The selling process can seem like a long one, especially when you are packed and ready to move away. Below, we will go over some tips to help you sell your home quickly, so that you can move into your new home fast.

  1. Make Sure Your Home Is Priced Right

The first step to selling your home quickly will be to price it correctly. Sometimes, people will price their homes way above the market price and no one will even put in an offer because the price is already too high. The same goes for pricing the house below market price. If people see a price that is too low, they will think that there are problems with the home.

You should focus on asking for the market value of the home and have the home assessed to show that it has been appraised at or close to the asking price.

  1. Update Your Home and Complete Renovations

The next step in selling your home quickly is to complete any updates and renovations to the home. If your home needs a good interior and exterior paint, don’t put it off and make sure it gets done. Also, you may want to consider updating some of your out of date items such as the kitchen or bathroom. These are two main areas that people look at and if your home still has a ‘70s design, then you will not get as much money for the home as you would like.

  1. Remove Your Personal Items from the Home

Next, you need to remove your personal items from the interior of your home. No one wants to see your Christmas cards, family photos, and piles of clothes on the ground. When a homebuyer walks into your home, they want to be able to picture themselves in the home.

You can place all of your personal items in a self-storage unit until you have moved and settled into your new home.

  1. Stage the Home

Lastly, you should stage the home and setup the rooms as they are meant to be used. Now, we did say to remove your personal belongings and you can do this and still have the home staged. Staging involves setting up a living room to look like a living room and the entryway to look like an entryway. This process will help give the buyer a sense of what the home would look like if they moved in and decorated.

It is important that you are always willing to negotiate on the price as well. Of course, you can be firm on the price, but you must understand that your home will move slower and will not sell as quickly.
