Moving can be rough on even the toughest of men and it is important that you take the extra steps necessary to be prepared and have everything planned out from start to finish. One of the most vital boxes you need to keep with you is a moving day survival kit.
If you have never heard of a survival day moving kit, it contains all of your most important items to keep you going in case the truck is delayed or you get caught in a storm, etc. Below, we will go over the items you should put into this kit and hopefully, you will be able to pack one for yourself quickly.
- Prescription Medications
While you can pack your prescription medications up and place them in a box, you should put the ones you need to take on a regular basis in your survival kit. You should keep any medication that you need every day or every other day in this kit just in case you are stuck somewhere for a night or two.
- Food and Water
You never know when someone in the car will become thirsty or hungry, so the best way to prepare for this is to pack some non-perishable foods to take along with you. For example, bring chips, pretzels, peanuts, granola bars, and other items that will keep your hunger pangs away. If you have a cooler, fill it with ice and add some water and juice to keep you hydrated. In the event you do not have a cooler, you can drink water from the bottle even when it is warm.
If you have a pet traveling with you, make sure that you bring extra water for him or her and some food for him or her to eat as well. You may want to pack a small bowl for the water and a small bowl for the food.
- Toiletries
Toiletries are items that often slip your mind when you pack your survival kit, but they are important. Think about it for a moment – what if you had to stay in your car for a day or two. What would you do? Make sure you pack some toilet paper, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, and any other items you think you may need while on the go.
- Clothes
Lastly, you should pack a change of clothes for each person in the vehicle. Make sure you do not pack too many items as this will weigh down your survival kit and take up unnecessary room. If it is cold, bring a blanket or even a coat for each person. Remember, it is unlikely that you will be in your vehicle for longer than a day or two, so try to avoid over packing.
If you are planning a move, make sure that you are keeping all of your necessities on hand, otherwise, you may find yourself uncomfortable throughout the entire move.
