Your Guide to Storing Baby Toys

SelectStorage May 6, 2016 Comments Off on Your Guide to Storing Baby Toys 463

Baby toys are probably one of most bountiful items that you have in your home right now. This happens to all new parents as they buy too many toys for their new bundle of joy. If you do have a ton of toys lying around your home, you will find that you are constantly stepping on them, tripping over them, and getting frustrated, all at the same time. To help prevent this from happening, we have some tips to help you store your baby toys.

Make a Plan

You want to sit down and make a plan for all of the baby toys that you have. For example, if your child plays with a certain type of toy all of the time, then consider keeping that toy in the playroom or even in your child’s room. Do this will all of the toys and as you think about the toys that your child has, go through them and toss out any toys that are broken.

Involve Your Kids

The next step to properly storing your child’s toys is to clean them and find a home for them. If you know that you want to hang on to some of the baby toys, but they are ones that your child no longer needs, prepare them for storage by cleaning them and making sure they are in good condition to store.

You can have your kids help with this step in a couple of different ways. You can involve your children and have them go through what toys they do and do not want and you can also have them help you clean the toys as well.

Get Plastic Containers

If you plan to place the toys in a storage unit or even in your garage, you want to make sure you place the toys inside of plastic totes or containers. Boxes do not always hold up well over time and you do not want to place the toys out in the open in case of pests, dust, and dirt.

As you place the toys in the totes, be conscious of the weight of the tote. You want to make sure that you can still lift it.

Get Organization Shelves and Bookcases

If you are not storing the toys in your garage or in a storage unit and these are toys that your child still plays with, invest in some bookcases, shelving, and other organizational tools to help keep the toys off of the floor and in an organized manner.

Turn Cleanup into a Game

You should turn cleanup time into a game that is fun for your children. You can make up a dance or song to go along with cleanup as this will encourage your child to participate.

If you plan to store your baby’s toys in your home or in a storage unit, make sure you take the proper steps to ensure the toys are clean and packed properly, so that they remain in good, usable condition.
